Mahlon Neer was born in 1809 in Loudoun Co., VA, the son of Conrad and Elizabeth Ropp Neer.

He came to Clark County about the year 1817 with several Neer families that settled in Clark and Champaign Counties. He lived with the Archibald and Nancy Mickey McConkey family as a young man and later married their daughter Nancy in 1832.

They had 9 children. Mahlon died in 1876 and Nancy in 1887. They are both buried in the McConkey Cemetery near Catawba, Pleasant Twp., Clark County.

Nancy McConkey Neer, the daughter of Archibald and Nancy Mickey McConkey, was born January 19, 1815, near Catawba in Clark Co., OH.

She was the 7th of 8 children. She married Mahlon Neer August 3. 1835. She died December 27, 1887, and is buried in the McConkey Cemetery near Catawba in Pleasant Twp. Clark County, Ohio.
